Sunday Presentation:
“Beadwork: THE Most Versatile Art Form”

Come see how beads are incorporated into almost anything! How they themselves become art! from around the world.

Presentation starts with bead embroidered couture and goes into global costumes and beyond, adornments of every description, vessels in all shapes and sizes, as well as objets d’art.Speaker:Maria Rypan is a worldwide respected bead artist, researcher and recognized expert on “gerdany”, Ukrainian-style of beading. Her work is featured in many beadwork publications. Since 1995 Maria teaches, produces a kit line and lectures on beading and global folk arts.http://www.rypandesigns.com, http://rypandesigns.blogspot.com

There are examples of several bead embroidery styles; bead stringing of unusual beads (anything with a hole in it); Peyote variations and more beadweaving, loomworked medallions; beaded “pysanky” eggs and themed boxes; bead knitting and crochet; beads on wire. Listen to stories about some of the more unique pieces. There is a variety of materials and techniques covered in classical and modern, traditional and one-of-akind, native and global, folk art and contemporary renditions.
You’ll be inspired to add a few more beads here and there as you zealously pursue your favorite art form.
