Calling all interested parties in metal clay!!

Tampa Bead Cafe will host a planning meeting for local enthusiasts interested in starting a Tampa Chapter of the nationally organized Art Clay Society. This is the first planning meeting, so do attend if you are interested in being part of this from the very beginning!

Art Clay Society is a national organization for metal clay enthusiasts to gather, share ideas & inspiration, discuss techniques, and so much more!

Metal Clay 101

Materials:

7-10 grams of silver clay

Texturing & stamping tools will be available for classroom use, but students may bring their own for personal use if desired

Cost: $25 plus materials

Level: Beginner

Instructor: Sammie Williams

Take this class to make either 1 pair of earrings or 1 pendant.  It is a great way to try metal clay for the first time if you ever wondered about it!  Students will learn simple techinques such as rolling out clay, stamping clay, and cutting shapes.  Shorter than other metal clay classes, it is perfect for beginners or experienced beaders who want to try something new and leave class with a finished project.

approx. 3 Top drilled 4 mm Crystals or Pearls

approx. 8 Sterling Silver 2mm cube beads

approx. 12 in round 20 gauge sterling silver 1/2 hard wire

1 Sterling Silver Clasp

Cost: $50 for both or double session plus materials

Students will learn how to use art clay to make the puzzle shape, stamp & texture pieces as well as creating links with wire to link the pieces together to make this fun bracelet.

Cost: $50.00 for both sessions,  plus materials

Pre-Work:  Purchase and shape the cork clay into the desired shape and size of finished bead that you wish to create.  Insert a wooden skewer through the center of the finished shape (this will be the hole for your stringing material)  let shape dry for a minimum of 48 hours prior to first session.

This list is just a suggestion; a lot of the items mentioned above are available for classroom use. Please bring any needed supplies you may already have. Just remember that if there is only one item for several students to share, it will lengthen the classes time.

Pre-Work:  Shape a piece of cork clay into desired shape and size of finished bead and pierce it on a skewer this piece must be dried for a minimum of 48 hours prior to class.
